How do I hire a student instrument?

Please make an appointment if you would like to rent an instrument.  We can then have the instrument ready for you to try when you come in. If you are unsure as to what size instrument to rent, we are happy to advise the player when they come to the shop. You can also hire a student instrument from us online here.

We recommend that you insure any rented instruments either through your household insurance or a specialist musical instrument insurer.

How long can I hire a student instrument for?

If you come into the shop to arrange your instrument rental there is no minimum or maximum hire period.  Hire fees are paid monthly in advance by direct debit and you are free to cease renting at any time.  If you arrange your rental through our Online Rental Scheme, there is a 3 month minimum hire period.  You will be charged for the first 3 months rental when you sign up and will also be charged a delivery fee.

Do I need to bring any documentation with me?

We will ask you to set up a direct debit for the monthly rental payments in the shop.  To do this you will need your bank account and contact details.

How are the monthly payments taken?

The monthly payments are taken by Direct Debit on or around the 1st of each month.  The payments will appear as GoCardless on your bank statement.

If paying by Direct Debit is difficult for you or if you are having trouble making your payments, speak to our office administrator Hannah Fisher and they will do their best to accommodate your needs.

Do I need to give notice before returning a student rental instrument?

It is not necessary for you to give any notice if you would like to stop hiring. Just come into the shop and return your instrument.

Please do not cancel your direct debit until you have returned the instrument.
