Carass Topham worked in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, between 1955 and 1990 making violins, violas and cellos. He was taught by George Herbert Hicks (apprentice to G.A. Chanot, Manchester) in the early 1950's and completed about 100 instruments, mostly violas, which are tonally admired.
This 15 3/8" viola is labelled "Carass Topham Maker Radley Abingdon Oxfordshire Viola No55 1983"
