7/8 French Double BassVuillaume school, Paris c.1870, Unlabelled.

This is a high quality French instrument showing much of the influence of  J B Vuillaume. A lovely Strad outline with long sweeping C bouts, fine woods, lovely workmanship and lovely red varnish over a golden ground. Being swell back the bass has a gorgeous full deep tone.

Certainly not typical French in either outline or sound. A lovely orchestral Bass.
